Hun Kosal Thanks PM After Release

Phnom Penh: Former CNRP activist Hun Kosal, who was released by the Phnom Penh Municipal Court on April 22, 2023, thanked Prime Minister Hun Sen for coordinating with the court for his release.

Mr. Hun Kosal wrote on his Facebook page on April 22, 2023: "The opportunity for me to be out of jail is due to the important coordination from Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Kingdom of Cambodia. Taking this opportunity, I would like to thank Samdech Techo Hun Sen for his understanding and favor in facilitating my case. ”

The Phnom Penh Municipal Court has decided to release Mr. Hun Kosal on bail from April 22, 2023.

Hun Kosal's release comes a day after his friend Yim Sinan asked to Join to the CPP and met with Prime Minister Hun Sen at his residence yesterday.

In a release order dated 22 April 2023, the Investigating Judge of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court, Khy Sok Vouch, ordered the Director of the 1st Correctional Center of the Ministry of Interior to release the accused Hun Kosal today.

It should be noted that on March 22, the Phnom Penh Municipal Court issued an arrest warrant for Mr. Hun Kosal and his counterpart, Mr. Yim Sinorn, on charges of "insulting the King and inciting serious chaos ”according to Article 437 (duplicate) of the Law Amending the Penal Code, Article 494 and Article 495 of the Penal Code.
